On Holocaust remembrance during a genocide
Any Holocaust commemoration which does not raise its voice against this genocide in Palestine should not exist.
To remember the genocide our ancestors, our people, faced at the hands of the Nazis and their collaborators at this time is to remember that it was not only Jews who were murdered. And it is to remember that genocides continue to be enacted. And it is to remember - to know - that currently Jews are enacting a genocide.
We see that overnight, as Yom Hashoah started, bombing in Rafah was ramped up. We see that in the morning of Yom Hashoah tens of thousands of Palestinians in Rafah are receiving phone calls and dropped leaflets telling them to move to continue their forcible displacement, and to go to the Al-Mawasi area. This is not the first time they have been forced to move. But really, where can they go? There is nowhere that is safe!
This is illegal, immoral, unjust. There are no adequate words for this barbarism. There is going to be more mass death and injury. This is entirely preventable. The world has failed Gazans. We will never forgive and never forget that this is being done.
But we cannot give up. We cannot allow this Nakba to go on. We owe it to Gaza to follow their example and continue with our endurance and resistance. We must keep lifting our voices in solidarity. Whatever means you have at your disposal - take action.
All eyes on Rafah! All eyes on Gaza! All eyes on Palestine!
Remember the Holocaust by working against this genocide.
